Jumping for joy! Corrie actor Will Thorp seems over the moon as he and girlfriend Samia Smith enjoy a lunch date

Happy couple: Samia Smith and her co-star boyfriend Will Thorpe were all smiles as they headed back to the Coronation Street set after a lunch date


They have only been together for a few months but Will Thorp is literally jumping for joy when he sees girlfriend Samia Smith.

The Coronation Street couple were first spotted together back in January, just a few weeks after she split from her husband of five years.

But judging from Will's actions, romance has certainly been blossoming on the cobbles for Samia and her co-star, who seemed over the moon after spending a lunch date together.


The 33 year-old actor was literally jumping for joy after the meal with his new girlfriend and he didn’t seem to have any trouble making Samia smile.

The pair enjoyed a break from filming Coronation Street to enjoy a lunch at a Nandos restaurant in Manchester.

As they made their way from the restaurant Samia, 28, couldn’t stop beaming and her grin was widened when Will jumped up and clicked his heels together in delight.

Samia was dressed down in a pair of baggy stonewash jeans a grey jumper with a pink T-shirt underneath and a grey and purple scarf wrapped around her neck.

Thorp was also casually dressed for the lunch date in jeans and a oatmeal jumper and the pair were all smiles as they shared a few jokes together making their way back to the set.

Samia, who plays Maria Connor on the show revealed that she had separated from her husband of five years in January. They have a young daughter together.

Just before Christmas former Casualty actor Thorp ended his seven year marriage to wife Samantha – who is the mother of his two children.

In January Samia and Will were first seen out together and the actresses estranged husband property developer Matthew Smith, 35, spoke out about their relationship.

Speaking for the first time about their split, Matthew told The Sun: 'They have to live with what they have done.

'She's my wife, I love her and we've got a child together. If she wants to speak to me, she can. I'm just trying to get on with my life.'

Will joined the cast of Coronation last July as angry builder Chris, who has clashed with taxi firm owner Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles), because he is dating his estranged wife Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah).

Samia rejoined the cast the same month when she returned from maternity leave and the couple's rocky on-screen romance first began in October.
